Real Aluminum Radiant Roof Membrane for Hot-Climate Roofing
The Vantell VRAU Series is a reinforced real aluminum radiant roof membrane developed for hot climates, high UV exposure, and demanding roof installation environments. It is designed for roof assemblies where radiant heat reflection, installation strength, and long-term material stability are important.
Unlike many lightweight metallized radiant barriers, VRAU uses a real aluminum reflective surface together with a reinforced composite body. This construction provides a durable reflective face while improving handling strength during large-area roof installation.
The series is especially suitable for tile roofs, metal roofs, warehouses, workshops, agricultural buildings, light steel structures, and other projects exposed to strong solar radiation and high roof temperatures.
Developed for Practical Roof Installation Conditions
Roof installation is not a controlled laboratory environment. During construction, roof membranes may be pulled, fastened, overlapped, exposed to wind, stepped on accidentally, or temporarily suspended before the final roof covering is installed.
VRAU is developed for these practical jobsite conditions. Its reinforced woven core improves installation tolerance and helps reduce the risk of tearing or damage during handling, fixing, and large-area application.
This makes VRAU suitable for projects that require a stronger and more stable reflective roof membrane rather than a lightweight foil sheet intended only for less demanding applications.
Why Real Aluminum Matters
Many radiant barrier products use metallized plastic film, commonly known as MPET. In this type of construction, a very thin metallic coating is deposited onto a plastic film.
VRAU instead uses a real aluminum foil surface as the outward-facing reflective layer. The real aluminum face provides a substantial metallic surface designed for roof applications exposed to strong sunlight, elevated temperatures, and demanding installation conditions.
The reflective surface provides a nominal reflectivity of at least 95%, helping reduce radiant heat transfer when the membrane is installed adjacent to a suitable air space.
Reinforced Composite Construction
A radiant roof membrane must survive installation before it can provide reliable thermal performance. VRAU combines a real aluminum reflective face with a reinforced woven core and a protective backing layer.
This reinforced construction improves tensile strength, tear resistance, dimensional stability, and overall jobsite handling. It helps the membrane withstand pulling, fastening, overlapping, and partially unsupported installation conditions.
VRAU is therefore designed as a roof-grade reflective membrane that combines radiant heat control with practical installation durability.
4 ft Standard Roll Width
VRAU is supplied in a standard width of 1219 mm, exactly 4 ft. This size provides a practical balance between installation efficiency, roll handling, production stability, and shipping weight.
Compared with narrower 1.0 m to 1.2 m products, the 4 ft width can help reduce the number of overlap seams across large roof areas while remaining convenient for transportation and jobsite handling.
Each standard roll measures 1219 mm × 50 m and provides approximately 60.96 m² of coverage.
Application Areas
VRAU is suitable for hot-climate roofing projects where radiant heat reflection, mechanical reinforcement, and secondary water protection are required. It can be installed beneath roof coverings in a range of residential, commercial, agricultural, and light industrial roof assemblies.

Product Positioning
VRAU-115S and VRAU-150D are positioned as reinforced, vapor-closed reflective roof membranes for markets where products such as Duralfoil are commonly used.
Their primary functions are radiant heat reflection, installation strength, secondary water protection, and cost-effective performance in hot-climate roofing applications.
They should not be confused with premium vapor-permeable reflective membranes such as Tyvek Reflex. Tyvek-type products combine a reflective surface with a highly breathable membrane structure and are generally positioned at a significantly higher market price.
Vantell can also provide a vapor-permeable reflective membrane solution for projects requiring a low Sd value and breathable roof construction. However, this type of product requires a more specialized breathable substrate and reflective-layer technology, resulting in a higher production cost and selling price than the standard VRAU Series.
